Networking over-kill can cause THIS in your business

If you know me, at all…you know I LOVE networking!

In fact, as I evaluate my "client referral" sources, seventy-two percent come from the relationships I have built in my network. I am honored to be on a "first name" basis with people who are absolutely rockstars in their field and leaders in the community.

It also makes me feel good to know that I have a ton of business resources to provide to clients and future clients. I still joke..."I may not have the answer but I know someone who does”.

Now,, as much as I love's a LOT of work!

When I moved to the Southwest Florida area in 2005, I barely knew a soul. I also didn't have a job (which was my main motivation to do some networking).

Luckily, I got a job with a company that saw the value of being a part of the community, getting involved with the local Chamber of Commerce, and building relationships with other businesses who were already talking to our clients.

The company was so committed to this that they wanted to be a part of a multitude of non-profits, committees, business luncheons and community events. It was great because I got to know more about my new community and meet the “movers & shakers” in a short amount of time.

The only problem, it started to take time away from my primary focus…getting more business.

How many of you feel like you are over extended in your “networking” or community obligations? Do you feel like there is little time left over to do the “stuff” to drive revenue?
