Last week, we had some open dialogue about "crossing the finish line" with our commitments. The analogy I gave, during the session (kind of fitting, going into the Preakness race this past weekend) of describing the energy during a horse race. I asked, "which is more exciting: when the race starts or when the race is finishing?" Of course, finishing the race.
During the call, we identified that the opposite seems to happen in the real world. As busy professionals, we usually get super excited about the beginning of a new project or a new opportunity. Often times, we get tired throughout the journey. We get lazy, complacent, burned out. Before you know it, we forget what we are fighting for and give up. We never get the moment of glory of running through the finish line.
Check out this short video below on how to blast through the finishing line when is comes to accomplishing your goals.
The key is getting clear about the goal. For instance, if it is a big picture goal for the year (like $500,000 in sales for your business) what to you have to do each month, each week, each day to make your goal? It's also helpful to know: "How many people would have to buy your highest ticket item?" or "What is your conversion rate of prospects vs. clients?"
