051: Share Your Story to Make a Big Impact with Rena Romano

Rena Romano is an expert in helping others shift their mindset and maximize their potential. Her life’s philosophy focuses on self-awareness, embracing perseverance and harnessing skill-sets that inspire professional and personal success.

Before becoming a professional speaker, Rena spent more than 18 years as a high-ranking and top-selling sales and marketing representative in the construction industry. Leveraging the lessons in public speaking and leadership, she eventually became an entrepreneur, in the business of educating corporate leaders, sales managers, senior level executives and non-profit organizations.

Rena applies her passion for uplifting and motivating to many regional and national causes that restore the broken. Most notably, Rena appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” where she relayed her first-hand account of the traumas of child abuse, while detailing her personal evolution’s toward healing and inner revival.

When Rena decided to leave the construction industry as a result of a sinking economy, she had to re-invent herself and become her own boss.

“(Entrepreneurship) takes a lot of hard work and persistence. You really have to believe in what you’re doing.”

She now shares her message with 42 million other survivors of different abuses.

“I want people to know that no matter what we’ve been through in our life, that as adults, we can choose how our life is going to live out”

Entrepreneurship was something she never even considered doing years ago, but she now says that if she can do it, anyone can do it.

Rena recalls being bullied by her former boss while in the corporate world.

“I went through abuse all my childhood. I don’t deserve this as an adult.”

Going into business for herself was a way to ensure that nobody could abuse her again.

Rena advises others to follow their heart when making decision about their lives.

“You know in your gut what is the right thing to do”

She believes in writing down your goals and finding a mentor, as well as being a mentor yourself to other people.

“We can’t do this alone. We need help.”

She said it’s not always been easy for her to ask for help. As an adult, she reached out and sought professional counseling to assist her in getting over child abuse. Getting help will help you fulfill your mission and reach what you want to achieve.

“Somebody out there is waiting for you to make your dreams come true, so that you can make a difference in their life”

After speaking at networking events, people with abuse in their past were approaching her with their stories. This is when she realized she wanted to change her brand, to help people find their voice.

“We all have a story. If I’m not true to myself, I can’t teach other people to live out there dreams.”

From her childhood experiences, Rena has learned that she is more resilient than she ever thought was possible.

“If I can live through that, then I can do anything”

Rena just finished recording an audio cd which she is currently out promoting, called “The Principles of Potential”, which is available on her website (see “INTERVIEW LINKS”). She has speaking engagements lined up and is working on becoming a national and international speaker.

She reminds others that life is about success, not perfection.

“We are perfectly imperfect the way we are. Have fun with your life.”

The books that have inspired her the most are “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield, “Becoming a Person of Influence” by John C. Maxwell and “Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Erica adds that Napoleon Hill’s “Outwitting the Devil” is a another great resource by that author.
